Top EHR vendors

Cerner, McKesson, and Quadramed rounded out the top five vendors favored by large hospitals.
From our experts
Seeking Epic Benefits from Your EHR? Avoid Epic Risks."It was the big medical centers that gave Allscripts their top scores," says Doug Brown, Black Book's managing partner. "All of the margins were close," but other top vendors fell short in customer satisfaction categories that allowed Allscripts to move up, he noted.
For the fourth year in a row, Cerner claimed the top spot in the rankings for community hospitals with 100 to 299 beds, followed by Siemens, McKesson, Epic, and Allscripts.
Among small, rural, and critical-access hospitals with fewer than 100 beds, CPSI received the highest award for customer-experience scores, trailed by Cerner, Healthland, Health Management Systems, and RazorInsights.
A hospital is suing its EHR vendor. Is it the first suit of many?
"Hospital leaders are seeking empirical data from EHR users to make informed vendor choices, particularly those switching systems or replacing home grown EHRs," Brown said, adding, "Viable EHR vendors are actively supporting their clients past implementation, and demonstrating best-of-breed technologies through innovative solutions" (Conn, "Vital Signs," Modern Healthcare, 3/11 [subscription required]; McCann, Healthcare IT News, 2/28).
