- California: Major payers have banded together to create a CMS-verified statewide physician rating website, CAqualityrankings.org. The website ranks more than 10,000 doctors and uses data from more than 10 million patients provided by Anthem Blue Cross of California, Blue Shield of California, UnitedHealthcare of California, and CMS. The website includes search tools and ranks doctors from one to four stars. (Rappleye, Becker's Hospital Review, 3/29).
- Colorado: American Medical Response (AMR)—which provides ambulance services—has inked a deal with the ridesharing company Lyft to transport patients who don't need to take an ambulance. According to the Denver Business Journal, the partnership will enable hospitals, clinics, and health plans to request and pay for rides for patients (Miller, Denver Business Journal, 3/29).
- Kansas: Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback (R) on Thursday vetoed legislation to expand the state's Medicaid program under the Affordable Care Act. State lawmakers who supported the legislation said they plan to try to override the veto (Levitz, Wall Street Journal, 3/30).
