Micha'le Simmons

Experience & Background

Micha'le Simmons is the Director of Workforce Research and Inclusion with Advisory Board's HR Advancement Center. Her areas of expertise include HR structure and the business partner model, recruitment, succession management, span of control, and diversity and inclusion. She has led research on hospital leader span of control and increasing the impact of HR business partners through more effective problem solving, as well as recruiting in a competitive labor market.

Beyond her core responsibilities, Micha’le is passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion within and outside of Advisory Board. She co-founded and now leads the firm’s People of Color Affinity Group. Through that work, she develops and implements strategies to cultivate the next generation of engaged leaders of color at the forefront of health care and higher education.

Micha'le holds a master's in health administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor's degree with honors in women's studies from Yale University. Prior to her work at Advisory Board, Micha'le worked in government relations at Ascension Health and developed diversity and inclusion strategies for health care organizations. Outside of work, Micha’le serves as the vice chair of the YWCA National Capital Area’s Young Women’s Leadership Council and volunteers with their youth mentorship program.
