- California: Valley Children's Hospital recently garnered praise from singer Justin Timberlake's team after posting a lip-sync video set to Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling." The hospital put together the nearly 4-minute video to celebrate winning Advisory Board's "Workplace of the Year" award—an annual award given to 20 organizations nationwide to recognize exceptional levels of employee engagement. According to hospital representatives, Valley Children's got a call from Timberlake's team saying the singer viewed the video and "loved" it (Rodriguez, Fresno Bee, 5/8).
- Texas: University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has tapped Ben Melson to serve as SVP and CFO. Melson, who previously filled the CFO role at MD Anderson, returns after spending 12 years working in a similar capacity at Texas Children's Hospital. Melson will start the position on May 15 (Ellison, Becker's Hospital Review, 5/5).
- Rhode Island: The Rhode Island Foundation has allocated about $270,000 in grants to five state-based organizations to make health care more accessible and affordable. Recipients include Crossroads Rhode Island, South County Hospital Health Care, Thundermist Health Center, Clinica Esperanza, and the Rhode Island Free Clinic (AP/Sacramento Bee, 5/7).
