A new program in Indiana, called "Mission: Recovery," helps National Guard members without insurance find substance misuse treatment in a place that understands their military background, in today's bite-sized hospital and health industry news from Florida, Illinois, and Indiana.
Patrice Harris, a psychiatrist and chair of the American Medical Association's Opioids Task Force, says, "We want to be pro-active in making sure [opioid] alternatives are available, versus a sort of blunt, one-size-fits-all-all approach regarding the number of prescriptions."
The survey finds that 56 percent of U.S. physicians either somewhat or strongly support a single-payer health care system, compared with 41 percent who either somewhat or strongly oppose such a system.
The new law increases the user fees paid by medical device and drug companies to FDA by $400 million in fiscal year 2018 to increase staffing at the agency and accelerate product approvals.
