The Medicare and Medicaid Promoting Interoperability (PI) Programs, formerly Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs (i.e., Meaningful Use [MU]), introduces a performance-based standard instead of the previous all-or-nothing measure threshold requirements.
In addition, the MIPS Advancing Care Information (ACI) category, now also renamed to PI, is overhauled to align with the changes introduced for Medicare hospitals. In 2020, all required PI measures remain the same. Updates have been made to the optional opioid measures, including the Query of Prescription Drug Monitoring (PDMP) measure remaining optional and available for bonus points in 2020 but converted to "yes/no" reporting requirement starting in 2019, and the Verified Opioid Treatment Agreement measure eliminated for 2020.
Eligible Hospitals (EHs) and MIPS Eligible Clinicians (ECs) can use this tool to estimate their PI score based on current performance, and target improvement goals.
